NBA Mulling All-Star Game Change: USA vs World

The NBA is considering converting the format of the 2026 all-star game into an international competition in Los Angeles.
Commissioner Adam Silver said last month that the league 2025 was going to “back to the drawing board” in the 2025 All-Star game after her unpopular three-game mini-to-tournament.
On Monday, Silver said that an international format-abroad-born players are to raise and appeal against a roster of the players as the game will air on NBC among the Winter Olympic coverage of that network.
He told Athletic, “Given the strong interest in international basketball competitions, in the last summer Olympics in Paris, we are discussing the concepts with the Players Association, which focus on NBA players who represent their countries or regions, which we have used in Aati,” Told athletic.
NBA Chairman of League Operation, Baren Spruel, said that the “US vs. Rest of the world” is very much inclined for the game of 15 February at Intuit Dome at NBC Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Clippers’ home Intit Dome will also host a basketball competition at the 2028 Summer Olympics.
“I think of all the factors, when they come together, it presents a huge opportunity for us that we provide a big opportunity to do something with an international competition instead of traditional all-star formats that we have used,” Silver said.
According to the League, about 70 percent of the NBA players are American. However, talent’s international pool includes superstar Nicola Jokik, Luka Donic, Gianis Antatoconampo, Victor Vambanyama and others.
