After trading with Washington National for Juan Soto in 2022, San Diego Padress arrived in the National League Championship series for the first time after his world series appearance in 1998.
But he paid a heavy price for Soto’s considerable services, which lasted only 214 games. One of the possibilities that Soto was emphasized was James Wood, who loudly reminded San Diego what he gave with four RBI in a three-run homer and Washington’s 10-6 series-opening victory on Monday night.
Wood Burning can take another step towards credentials that should enter the next month’s all-star game when the series continues in San Diego on Tuesday.
The Left Fielder sees has a .284 average, 22 homes and 61 with RBI enters the game. He is at speed for 45 Homer and can flirt with 125 RBI, 20 theft and 100 walks in his first full MLB season.
Manager Dave Martinez and Wood’s colleagues are clapping for him to be invited to home runs in Atlanta next month.
“It is brought up,” Wood said. “We will see. It would be good if I am invited. So let’s try to get it first.”
Wood’s heroes won their first win over Padress to Washington since 25 June 2023, which was only negative after hitting a foul ball in the dugout after the departure of Catcher Kebert Ruiz in the fourth innings.
Martinez said after the game that it was scary for him and the players.
“He had a good lump on his head,” Martinez said about Ruiz. “They were asking questions and he was giving the correct answer. Hopefully, he is fine because he wants to play every day.”
If Ruiz can play, it will be behind the plate for Scheduled Starter Traveler Williams (3-8, 5.54 ERA).
Williams finally picked the pitch on Thursday, with two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 frames of the team’s 4-3 win in 11 innings on Colorado Rockies. The right-handed batsman, who ran a batsman and hit six, is 1–1 with 4.91 ERA in five career games (four beginnings) against San Diego.
Ruki Right-Hand is ready to take the ball for the Padress on Ryan Bergert (1-0, 1.88). His last outing was Thursday night when he opened his team’s 5-3 scorer in Los Angeles Dojers with a 4 2/3 scorer innings, allowing three hits and walking, while exiting three.
This will be his first career game against citizens.
San Diego will expect a little longer length from the Bergart received from Stephen Colec on Monday. Kolek went into only 4 1/3 innings, a very familiar tendency for the team during the busy stretch of the Games that has a heavy tax on its bullpen and it was not as unwavering as before the first of this season.
