Muhammad Wasim returns as a UAE captain for T20I against Bangladesh

Muhammad Wasim has been restored as the captain of the UAE T20I team for the upcoming two -match series against Bangladesh in Sharjah, which began later this week. Wasim stepped down from the role in October last year after leading in 26 matches between 2023 and 2024 in October last year, citing the desire to focus on his ODI batting. The two -match series of two matches scheduled on May 17 and 19 will be the first T20I appearance of the UAE when they won the Gulf T20 Championship by defeating Kuwait in the final. Compared to the first tournament to show Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar, the level of competition with Bangladesh will significantly increase in his opponent with Bangladesh.
After Wasim’s resignation, wicketkeeper-boss Rahul Chopra captured the captaincy. In particular, Wasim remains the most vast T20 i batter of the UAE and has scored more T20I runs than any other player globally since its debut in 2021. However, his recent form is submerged – he failed to register a half -century in the ITT20 and his last came against Qatar in fifty December. In Odis, he has managed just one half -century in the last two years.
The UAE enters the Bangladesh range on the back of a difficult run in the Cricket World Cup League 2 in the Netherlands, where he suffered two defeats in the Netherlands and Scotland. His only win came against Scotland, which was exposed to a century of four wickets by Chopra and a left -handed spinner Simranjit Singh.
