Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a player who has successfully met the test of time, reached his 400th T20 game landmark during the Chennai Super Kings struggle against Sunrisers Hyderabad at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. His stellar T20 career, which has seen him to win the 2007 T20 World Cup and played a big role for five Indian Premier League titles in CSK, scored 7566 runs at a strike rate of 135.90.
Although at the age of 44, Dhoni’s batting cannot be at the peak of his skill with the bat, he is still intensifying the stumps and holds the record of most stumping in the format with 34 in his name.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is regularly leading CSK in the IPL 2025 season after going out with the fracture of the elbow for the remaining season of captain Ruturaj Gikwad.
For the first time this season, Dhoni returned to Ahmedabad as captain since the IPL 2023 final, a memorable night when Ravindra Jadeja hit sixes and four in the last two balls to secure CSK’s fifth IPL title. After handing over the captaincy to Gaikwad at the beginning of the last season, Dhoni took a step back from the leadership duties, but played an important role behind the curtain and with the bat.
Gikwad, who led CSK in IPL 2025, suffered a blow to his right forever during the CSK match against Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati before this season. Scan later revealed a elbow fracture, effectively ending his campaign.
Dhoni has led CSK in 239 matches, including the franchise win five titles. He was briefly played in 2022, in which Ravindra Jadeja was assigned the captaincy, but poor results regained control by Dhoni through the season.
