MS Dhoni named this India partner ‘Maria Sharapova’. The reason is cheerful

Paer Mohit Sharma of Delhi Capital recently revealed the surname that he was given by Chennai Super Kings Skipper MS Dhoni. Pesar, 36, started his IPL career with CSK in 2013 and went to play for the franchise for the first three years in 2016. Mohit played 47 matches for CSK and took 57 wickets for him. During his tenure with a five -time champion, he also made his India debut in Odis against Zimbabwe in 2013.
Mohit, who is currently playing for Delhi Capital in the ongoing IPL, recently opened his relationship with Dhoni and CSK. He revealed that due to his habit, MS Dhoni gave him the nickname of Maria Sharapova.
Tennis Legend Sharapova, who won five women singles Grand Slam titles between 2006 and 2014, was widely known for her loud grunt while playing.
Talking about the surname, Pesar said that there is no control in grunting, but it always affects the batsman.
“Mahi Bhai named me Maria Sharapova. He used to say:” You grow loudly as some tennis players. ” I would say: ‘With the grunt, the batsmen will feel that the ball will come to 145–150kph, even if the ball slows down, so it is a plus point for me, “Mohit told Espncricinfo.
Earlier, Mohit also said that the return of saliva to brighten the ball and the option of change in one ball in the second innings has provided very important relief for bowlers in this year’s IPL.
Next to IPL 2025, BCCI lifted the long-term ban on the use of saliva, which was first imposed during the Covid-19 epidemic, and also introduced the “second ball rule”, allowing teams to choose a used ball option after the 10th over in the second innings of the evening game.
“Yes, this (ball change) is 100% helpful. We saw that in the previous game. After 12 overs in the first innings, the ball started getting wet and then there was heavy dew in the second innings when that Karna bowled and bowled the ball on the 13th or 14th,” Mohit said.
He said, “So, there is definitely a slight difference in that hard ball. But over time, when it reaches more than the 15th or 16th, the ball’s position becomes the same,” he said.
