Washington Freedom held his nerve to win an exciting two wickets over MI New York in a high scoring competition. Chasing 189, freedom was always ahead of the required rate, but kept losing wickets at regular intervals, which kept MI New York in the end. Chase was placed on a solid platform by opener Mitchell Owen, which came out burning all guns. Owen broke a blistering 60 off just 26 balls, reducing five fours and five sixes and put his side in the command quickly. After he left, Rachin Rabindra (10) and Androus Gus (14) pasted a quick run, but Freedom’s middle order fought to form a partnership. The knock of 45 not out by Mark Chapman with 32 balls proved to be decisive in the end. Despite losing partners at the other end with Maxwell (16) and Jack Edwards (30), Chapman left his calm and directed freedom house with four balls.
