Minnesota expands coach PJ Flake through 2030

Minnesota enhanced the contract of football coach PJ Flake through the 2030 season.

The expansion announced on Wednesday was approved by the school’s board of regulations in their July meeting. Financial terms were not disclosed.

44-year-old Flake set a record of 58–39 since assuming Golden Goffeers in 2017, including 34–36 in Big Ten.

Minnesota has won all six bowl games under Flake, including Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Virginia Tech in the previous season.

All other head coaches in the history of the program have won a joint seven bowls, and Golden Gofers are 13–12 under all coaches.

Flake is the only gofter coach since 1905 to post nine or more win in three separate sessions.

The 2019 Big Ten Coach of the Year, Flake Western Michigan had a two-time mid-American conference coach of the year, where he overtook 2013-16 from 30-22.
