Mexico edges Honduras, Gold Cup final vs America sets

Raul Jimnez’s 50th-minute target all Mexico needed to defeat Honduras 1-0 in Santa Clara, California on Wednesday and proceed to the ConcacAF Gold Cup final.

The winner came from 16 -year -old Gilberto Mora on playing, who became the youngest player for the Mexican National Team on Saturday for his quarter -finals against Saudi Arabia.

The El TRAI will be square against the United States for the championship on Sunday at Houston.

The target will be to add Mexico to their record nine Gold Cup championships, including winning the most recent version in 2023. The US team is seven -time champion.

Shortly after the halftime, Mora took a pass just out of the Honduras 18-yard box, worked around a defender and slipped a pass on the pitch in the box. Jimnez attended the ball and fired a right-leg shot in the lower left corner of the net.

Mexico goalkeeper Angel Malagon rescued one while recording a clean sheet. Adric Menjivar of Honduras stopped two shots.
