Mayank Yadav of LSG performs Kerbal after two matches, yet another back injury

Mayank Yadav played only two matches in IPL 2025, with only two wickets on an average.

India speedster Mayank Yadav had shown a lot of promise in last year’s IPL, courtesy of which he managed to break into the national side as well. But then, cut to IPL 2025, he is failing to keep in shape. After playing just two matches for LSG this season, has been ruled out for the entirety of the tournament, due to another back injury.

Mayank Yadav Suffers Another Injury

As per a release by the BCCI, LSG brought in Kiwi pacer William O’Rourke as the replacement for a reserve price of INR 3 crore. Mayank Yadav managed to play only two matches in the season, where he picked up only two wickets, at an average of 50, and an economy rate of 12.50.

LSG Announce Replacement

It is interesting to note, that Mayank had missed a sizeable chunk of the IPL 2025 due to the same back issue, and also a toe injury, and was back with the team a few days back only, after getting a clearance from the NCA. That puts a lot of question marks over his overall fitness. LSG, though won’t be affected by this much, since their chances of making the playoffs are next to impossible.

Mayank for retained for a massive 11 Cr by the Sanjiv Goenka franchise, and it remains to be seen, if he would be retained for the next season as well or not.

Elsewhere, Punjab Kings also brought in a change, as they roped in Kyle Jamieson, as a replacement for countryman Lockie Ferguson, who was injured in the first half of the season. Having said that, that could a huge boost for the PBKS side, who are in the running to make the playoffs, and are also the contenders for the IPL trophy this year.
