Mayank Yadav is still injured? RAUDU Question LSG IPL 2025 for recovery of speedster

Mayank Yadav bowled 8 overs in IPL 2025 for LSG and has given 100 runs for 2 wickets.

Mayank Yadav created more excitement in 73 deliveries in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 than most pacers do in 10 years. Everyone was glued to the seat. India had the fastest pacer in the world, momentarily. Mayank took 7 wickets in 4 matches, breached the 150 km barrier more than a dozen times and delivered the 4th fastest ball in IPL history.

Mayank Yadav’s IPL return

Naturally, when he returned to feature for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), everyone was excited. His last IPL season had ended with an injury, and then another one came in October. Everyone was waiting to see whether Mayank would go supersonic again. To start with, he missed LSG’s first 9 matches.

When he did return, his speed and control were both missing. From someone who used to bowl at 150 consistently, Mayank hasn’t even bowled at 145 so far. And it was his control that made him effective. Because even Umran Malik had that speed. Mayank bowled relatively well against the Mumbai Indians, but it was a horror show against the Punjab Kings.

Mayank Yadav is still injured? RAUDU Question LSG IPL 2025 for recovery of speedster

LSG to blame for poor performance

6-time IPL winner Ambati Rayudu thinks that LSG warrants blame for what’s happening with Mayank. He cited Jofra Archer‘s example. The Englishman was first injured in 2021, and it’s only 4 years later that he’s seemingly back at his best. You need to persist with speedsters and believe in the process. Rayudu thinks that Mayank’s confidence is shot at the moment. He might not be feeling 100% right now, and LSG might be at fault because they rushed him back.

“I think it is a lack of confidence more than pace, because once you are coming back from an injury, it is really hard to really bend your back and get back at your best. We have seen Archer; it took him six months to be back at his best. It will be tough if we say he (Mayank) is not performing, but LSG might have just shown some desperation to just get him into the mix; maybe he is not ready yet,” Rayudu said on ESPN Cricinfo.
