Mayank Agarwal to replace Devdutt Padikal in RCB, DC Sign Sendicullah Atal for Harry Brook

Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday selected Mayank Agarwal as a replacement for the injured Devdutt Padikkal, while Delhi Capital signed the Sedikullah Atal of Afghanistan in place of the British Harry Brook for the remaining of the Indian Premier League. This season played 10 matches for RCB and scored 247 runs with the help of two half -centuries, with Padikal hurt his right hamstring. Aggarwal has played 127 IPL matches so far, scored 2661 runs. There are an IPL hundred and 13 fifties against his name. He joins RCB for Rs 1 crore.

On the other hand, DC has signed 23 -year -old Afghan Batter Atal, who made headlines against Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year with a knock of 85 runs against Australia.

Atal has played 49 T20s in various competitions, scoring 1,507 runs at an average of 34.25, including 13 half -centuries.

He first grew prominently during the Kabul Premier League 2023, where he scored 48 runs in a single over. In that innings, he remained unbeaten on 118 off 56 balls, including seven fours and ten sixes. He also scored a century score in the final of the tournament, scoring 103 runs in just 42 delivery.

Atal played an important role in Afghanistan’s victory at the ACC Mains T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2024, topping the run-scorers charts with 368 runs in five matches.

He replaces Brook, which has been banned by the BCCI to pull out of the IPL despite being purchased at the auction.

DC head coach Hemung Badani said, “We are excited to welcome Atal in Delhi’s capitals. He is an exciting, young talent that has influenced everyone with his performance for the youth and senior teams of Afghanistan.”
