The Future Hall of Fame Pitcher Max Shezer is set to make its comeback on the mound for Toronto on Wednesday, when Blue plays a three-game game at Cleveland Guardians.
Manager John Schneider has officially listed the Scherzer as a starter in that game. This will mark his first appearance since its Blue Jais Debut vs. Baltimore on 29 March.
“This is a very big, very big additional to us,” Schneider said on Sunday after losing the Chicago White Sox 4–2. “This is Max Shezer. I will take any day of the week.”
Scherzer signed a year, $ 15.5 million with Toronto in February.
He remained in the third game of the season only in Oriols vs three innings. He was initially placed in the 15-day injured list with inflammation in his right thumb on 30 March, but was eventually transferred to a 60-day IL.
The 40 -year -old has received two cortisone injections and was eligible to appear on the list on 29 May. On 13 and 18 June, he launched two rehabilitation for Triple-e Buffalo, fanned 12 batsmen and allowed two earned runs in 8 2/3 innings. He threw 75 pitches in Columbus on Wednesday and completed a bullet session in Toronto on Sunday.
“He is ready to leave,” said Schneider. “The thumb is one thing. It’s a real thing. I think it’s a good thing to get 75 pitches in its last beginning and we just have to monitor it as we go. He knows that his luggage is where it should be. I am really, really excited to return it.”
