West Indies have unleashed yet another big hitter into World cricket. On Friday, Matthew Forde rewrote history with a sensational innings in the IRE vs WI 2nd ODI. Forde smashed the fastest ODI fifty, equaling AB de Villiers’ record set in 2015.
Fastest ODI fifty: Matthew Forde equals AB de Villiers
Matthew Forde smashed the joint fastest half-century ODI history in a brutal show of hitting in Dublin. The 23-year-old walked into bat in the 43rd over at the fall of Roston Chase. Forde straightway meant business, smashing Barry McCarthy for a maximum off just his second ball of the game.
He then smashed four back to back sixes off Joshua Little, taking 26 off the 45th over. Matthew Forde then smashed Kyle Mayers struck a six and four. He then followed it up with 2 maximums off Barry McCarthy to equal AB de Villiers’ record. He then added another boundary, before being dismissed for 58 off just 19 deliveries. Forde hit 2 boundaries and 8 sixes in his innings, with 56 off his 58 runs coming in boundaries.
