The Indian domestic season is a fair distance away, but the pre-season shake-up has already started. In a unpredicted move, one of the strongest teams — Vidarbha is all set to lose its key players, Karun Nair and Jitesh Sharma, as per a report in Cricbuzz. While Jitesh is set to go to Baroda, Nair is expected to go back to his state team, Karnataka.

Karun Nair was an exceptional performer in all the formats, where he piled on 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy, and then scored 779 runs in the Vijay Hazare. But now, due to family reasons will have to come back and play for his home state. It it in fact with these performances that the batter could make it back to the Indian Test team, and is slated to play in the England Test series.

On the other hand, sources within the BCA have confirmed the Jitesh Sharma development, and the formalities could be completed in the next few days. It is important to note that Jitesh was Vidarbha’s skipper in the white-ball competitions, and is now coming after a title win at the RCB.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has introduced major changes in the Ranji Trophy. This year, the premier tournament will start on October 15, then from mid-November the Syed Mushtaq Ali and Vijay Hazare Trophies will be conducted, only to finish the Ranji Trophy post that.
