Lucknow Super Giants Review (5/10): Pant’s flop, Rathi Standout

Lucknow Super Giants performed a sub-par-up demonstration in IPL 2025, finished 7th with 6 out of 14 matches.

IPL 2025 did not come out what the Lucknow super veterans would have expected. With 6 wins, Froame 14 matches, Rishabh Pant -led LSG finished seventh on the points table. The team’s campaign was married to the poor form of many failures-captain pants, injuries to bowlers, issues of one wicket-taking bowler’s attitude, auction strategies among others.

After letting KL Rahul leave, LSG broke the bank to bring Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crore. However, the LSG captain rarely managed to justify his heavy price tag, scoring only two-century in the season. However, this season is not just negative to talk about the side. The LSG revealed a hidden gem as Digwesh Rathi, which unexpectedly became the main wicket -taking side.

Lucknow Super Giants Review (5/10)

LSG’s most spectacular failure came as Captain Pant. In 14 matches, Southpow managed to score 269 runs in only 13 innings, average 24.45. The team’s highest retention (Rs 21 crore) Nicholas Goran made a great start for the season, but just failed to be consistent.

LSG’s bowling attack suffered maximum loss. They were without the services of two of their bowlers for about half the way through the tournament. While Mohsin Khan was rejected, Mayank Yadav managed to survive for only one game before being injured again.

Between the bad looks and injuries of the batsmen, Pant did a good job in captaining the side and making sure that each game was a sensible to play an XI.

  3. LSG finds new bowling weapons in Digwesh Rathi, who performed much better than Ravi Bishnoi

Climbing

  1. Pathetic form and incompatibility of captain pants
  2. Gorn fails to live for Exection, reduces top-order
  3. Drutable conception strategy by maintaining injury-prone pacers like Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan
  4. Shamar Joseph – Basically the only foreign pacer in LSG squad – Banked in the entire tournament

What’s in the store for IPL 2026?

LSG is in dire need to fix its pace unit before the next season. It can get rid of Mayank and Mohsin and seek more durable options. Captain is nothing wrong with the squad, stopping the form of pants and gorn.
