LSU improves 2-0, UCLA in MCWS is the first disadvantage

Number 6 LSU continued, where it left, on Tuesday afternoon to defeat number 15 UCLA 9-5 to complete a suspended game in Mains College World Series at Omaha, Neb.

Tigers (50–15) led 5–3, when the competition was stopped on Monday night after a long rains delay before the start of the fourth innings. LSU scored twice in the fourth and added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Bruce (48–17), now 1–1 in Omaha, is facing a elimination game against number 3 Arkansas on Tuesday night. The winner of that competition will have to defeat LSU (now 2-0) twice to reach the MCWS final series from Bracket 2.

Freshman Kaisan Evans (5–1) won for the tigers after taking the mound for the restart and allowed two runs on four hits with no walk and five strikes in 4 1/3 innings. Chase Shore was perfect for the last 1 1/3 innings that were to save.

Jeed Jones, who hit his 21st domestic run of the season to score three runs on Monday night, ended with four RBI on batting with two runs and a walk. Team’s partner Jake Brown was two -for -5 with two RBI and one run. Steven Millum scored two hits and Ethan Frey scored four runs.

Bruce could not catch the tigers despite scoring three runs at the top of the first innings on Monday. The UCLA did not score again till two-nine eighth.

AJ Salgado was 2 -for -3 with an RBI, Mulivai Levu was 2 -for -5 with two runs and Patan Brainon scored two runs for Bruce. Starter Landon Stump (6–2) suffered losses after scoring five runs on four hits with two walks and did not strike in two innings.

The UCLA opened a double-elimination tournament in Bracket 2 with a 6-4 win over Muri State on Saturday, while LSU defeated Arkansas 4–1 that night.
