Los Angeles FC has taken a new meaning with an LAFC set for an unprecedented opportunity for just an unprecedented opportunity for an unprecedented opportunity in a week on Sunday.
The match against Sporting Casey is LAFC’s last chance to prepare some in-game for the matchup with Chelsea of the English Premier League on 16 June. These will be the Group Play’s opener at the FIFA Club World Cup and will be at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
Sunday’s MLS game comes a few weeks after a week, when LAFC won its place 2–1 in the club World Cup in a play-in competition with a 2–1 win over Mexico club America. Igor Jesus tied the score 1–1 in the 89th minute and Dennis Buanga won it in the 25th minute of 30 minutes.
“This was the goal that placed Los Angeles on the front stage in the world,” Buanga said, who has 80 goals with LAFCs in all competitions in four years. “I had this anger. I wanted.”
In MLS Play (3-0-5), the challenge of not ignoring Sporting Casey with LAFC (6-4-5, 23 points) on an unbeaten run of eight-game.
After the slow start of the season, SKC (4-8-4, 16 points) still remains under the playoff line, but is on an unbeaten run of four matches and 2–1-4 in May.
SKC won 3–1 on the road against Houston Dynamo last Saturday, scoring the most goals in a win this season. Dejean Joveljic scored twice as the club improved 4-3–3 under interim head coach Kerry Zavagnin.
“From the very first day, he has actually been an incredible worker,” Zavaginin spoke about Jovegin, who has a team-secretary nine goals this season after Los Angeles Galaxy helped win the MLS Cup last season last season.
“He is calm. He is a collective. He is fatal. He is constantly and despite the fact that he did not score anything because the season closed for us, he has definitely found his rhythm now.”
The teams won a 2–0 win on the road with LAFC on 22 March when David Martinez and Aaron scored a long goals.
