Dennis Buunga scored a late penalty kick in the first half and the host Los Angeles FC dominated the short-hand cololorado Rapids 3–0 on Wednesday night.
Nathan Ordaz and Javero Dilrosun added the second-half long as Los Angeles (8-5-5, 29 points), continuing their domestic mastery of the rapids.
Jackson Travis played with Colorado 10 men after Jackson Travis attracted a red card after contacting a ball while fighting a ball in the midfield in the sixth minute.
This opened the door to capture about 70 percent of the game for LAFC and post a 22-6 lead in shots. LAFC improved its last 11 MLS matches in 5-1-5 and placed two of Colorado on the target.
Rapids (7-10–5, 26 points) in MLS matches at BMO Stadium fell to an all-time. Colorado has been vacated in all competitions in its last six trips in LAFC, with the league cup match in the previous season, the visit of ConcacAF Champion has been counted earlier this year.
Hugo Loris of LAFC and Nico Hansen of Rapids both made two savings.
Rapids are 1-5–1 in their last seven matches.
Kagan Rosenberry of Colorado did two big plays to score the game in the 28th minute. First, he intercepted a cross to prevent a large goal-scoring opportunity. Later second, he made a stop with his feet after Igor Jesus ripped a right -foot shot on the net.
Later in half, Andreas Maxo of Colorado was implicated in the box and awarded a penalty kick.
Buunga stood on the spot in the 42nd minute and sent a hard right-foot boot to the upper part of the net to get a LAFC on the board. The Lakshya was the ninth of the season of Buunga and the MLS was the 50th in the regular-season play.
LAFC took a 11–1 lead in the shots in the first half and then added a goal to the third minute of the second half.
Dilrosun took a left leg shot that Hansen stopped. But the rebound went directly to Ordaz, who knocked the ball into the net.
In the 59th minute, Timothy Tilman slides a pass near Dilrosun, who diverted a left leg shot 3–0 from Diving Hansen’s hands.
