Kayla Thornton highlighted a 22-point performance with a rally-stop 3-population midway through the fourth quarter and the Golden State Volcaries continued their amazing expansion-session to win the 76–70 victory over the Seattle Storm at San Francisco on Saturday night at San Francisco.
Thornton completed a double-dabble with a game-high 12 rebounds, while Tami Fagbenl with 16 points and seven rebounds for Valcaries (5-5), who registered their third direct win to improve the commissioner’s cup play 3–2.
Skyler Digins had a team-high 21 points for Storm (6-5), who saw the three-game winning streak ended as they fell 3–2 with a game balance in the Commissioner Cup.
Coming out of a domestic win on an unbeaten Minnesota Links, a slow starting storm received rallies from a 22-point deficit on a small jumper within 67–62, which still to play with 5:24.
