Kamila Cardso scored 12 points of 12 points of her career in the fourth quarter and Chicago Sky on Tuesday night rallied in a match-up of teams struggling for a 97-86 victory on Los Angeles Sparks.
After falling late in the first half, Akash pulled three-game losing streak. Chicago (4–10) thanked the sparks for cards, who made 10 out of 15 shots, including their first 3-pointers before joining the Brazilian national team for the FIBA Americanup tournament.
Angel Reese added 18 points and 17 rebounds for its eighth double-dabble as Chicago controlled the glass by a margin of 36-27. Rees also contributed six assistance and four theft
Ariel Atkins assisted 13 points and five as Chicago shot 50 percent in the last three quarters and 44.6 percent in total.
Azura Stevens led Sparks (4–11) with 21 points on 8 -11 shooting. Kelsey Plum added 20 but shot the 6-off-17 and recalled all six 3-point attempts as Sparks shot 43.7 percent of the last three quarters after making 11 out of their first 17 shots.
Los Angeles recalled 19 of the 26 3-point attempts and made 17 turnover in their fourth straight loss.
Stevens scored 11 points as the sparks made their first six shots, shooting about 65 percent for a 29–17 lead in the first quarter. Reese basket from Los Angeles turnover shifted the sky within 31–28 in the second, and with the remaining 6:43, Stevens drowned 3 for a 39–30 lead.
Los Angeles took a 14-point lead at a circle by Deerka Hamb with 2:44 before settling for a 48–42 lead in halftime.
The 3-pointer of Cardso cut the Chicago deficit with 51-49 to 7:58 remaining and the 3-point play of the Reese put the sky within 61-60 after about four minutes. Akash made a 65-65 tie when Rebecca Ellen left 3 with 2:10 and the plum paste gave the sparks a 69-67 lead in the fourth.
The paste of Cardso put ahead the Chicago with 7:23 at 74-72 for the first time, and her 3-point play made it a little one minute later by 77-72. Chicago kept moving forward. Rachel Banam made 3 with 4:21 with 84–76, and a bounce pass from Atkins made it 90-81 by a bounce pass, with 87 seconds to run it with 87 seconds.
