Kagiso Rabada eligible for WTC final despite provisional suspension

From Australia captain Tim Pine slammed Cagiso Rabada and ICC for lack of transparency around his suspension. But Rabada is back in the IPL and is eligible to play.
South Africa can breathe a sigh of relief. His lead pacer Kagiso Rabada is likely to be eligible to play the ICC WTC final 2025 despite the service of an provisional suspension for a unsuccessful recreational drug testing. Rabada, who played two matches in IPL 2025 for Gujarat Titans, returned home due to “personal reasons”, hiding his provisional ban. But as he has accepted, and this is his first crime, the ICC can let him go with only one month suspension and fine.
While Wada (World Anti-Doping Agency) has a minimum three-month suspension for the use of recreational drug, it can be reduced by a month. For this to happen, Rabada would have to establish that he excluded the substance from the competition. For now, there is no clarity on the substance taken by him. The drug test took place during the SA20 2025 in January.
Entertaining medicines according to Wada
- Cocaine
- MDMA /Parmanand
- Heroin (diamure)
- THC or Cannabinoids (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
Rabada back in IPL
While Rabada left home on 3 April, citing personal reasons, he is back with Gujarat Titans exactly one month after his departure. This may indicate when the completion of a month’s suspension. This will not only be eligible to play for GT in the remaining part of IPL 2025, but will also have AUS vs SA WTC Final 2025.
The World Test Championship Final takes place at Lord’s in England starting on June 11. If he has already served his suspension, Rabada is ready to be available. South Africa has a week to submit its squad for the WTC final with the scheduled time frame on 11 May.
This smelly: Tim Pine
However, former Australia captain Tim Pine Kagiso is not happy with the lack of transparency around Rabada’s suspension. The ICC has maintained silence on the matter, only Rabada has issued a statement apologizing for the misuse of its drugs.
“It smells smells. I do not like this use around personal issues, and it is being used to hide the goods that is not a personal issue. If you have a professional player, which is tested for recreational medicines during a tournament, in which he is playing, which does not come under personal issues for me. It is not a personal issue for me.” Tim Pine told Sen radio On Monday.
Pine is also not happy that he is back in IPL 2025 and will be eligible to play WTC final against Australia. Gujarat Titans will play their next match on 6 May. If Rabada plays, his suspension has already ended.
“Not only will the World Test Championship play against Australia, but he is now available to play in the IPL. Nobody knew what he was given, what he was given or who was the body to be held. Tim Pine said.
