“Just no excuse …”: Sunil Gavaskar blasted Mumbai Indians for huge blunder vs. Gujarat Titans

Gujarat’s Titans won an exciting victory over Mumbai Indians in their rain-hit IPL 2025 match at Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday. Batting first, Mumbai Indians were limited to 155/8, despite a quick 53-ran knocking with Will Jack. Later, during the chase of GT, the match was several stalled due to rain. Finally, visitors were asked to score 15 runs in the 19th over to win the match. MI Skipper Hardik Pandya handed over the ball to Pesar Deepak four, but he could not stop GT from crossing the line.

While bowling in the final, Charor was against Garald Koetzi and Rahul Tawatiya. Pacer was hit by Tawatia to a border on the first ball, followed by a single. After coming on strike, Koetzi sent the ball directly to the stand for a huge six. However, four leaked a no-ball and single at the next delivery, giving GT free-hit.

On the free-hit, Tawatia took a single and scored the score level but four rejected Koetzi on the next ball. However, the wicket also could not help MI as Arshad Khan came on strike and finished the game with the same.

Talking about the last over, former India batsman and commentator Sunil Gavaskar dropped four to give a no-ball.

“There is no excuse for a ball. For a professional cricketer, there is just no excuse. Whether you are bowling in death or elsewhere.”

With this win, the GT climbed to the top of the points table with a total of 8 wins after 11 matches.

“There was a little chaos when we came in batting after the rain, but always was good to be a W (victory). The sports plans in the powerplay were different, it was raining and the atmosphere was such that it felt like a test match. We wanted to take the game after the powerplay, but the rain continued after the rain.

“The wicket was a bit slow, with rain, it was not easy to hit the shots, so we thought when it is in our area, we would go for it. It was disappointing, we were ahead in a phase, but we were defeated 4/20. But, the universe gave us a chance before two minutes and we took it.”
