Jofra Archer 2 Tests may be in the England team, need to prove fitness for Sussex

India vs England: Jofra Archer last played a Test match in 2021 February, and posts that have been ruled out of the team due to injuries.

Even though England pacer Jofra Archer might have been ruled out of the 1st India Test, he could be back in action from the 2nd Test onwards. The pacer was recently playing in the IPL 2025 for RR, and had done decently well, was on a Test comeback trail, only to suffer a thumb injury again.

Jofra Archer Ruled Out of 1stTest

The injury ruled him out of the England Lions series against India A; England selector Luke Wright has revealed that now he would be back for Sussex for their second XI matches. Should he prove his fitness in the match against Durham, he could feature in second Test at Edgbaston.

“Jof’s also trucking along really well actually,” said Wright. “The plan is for him to play a few second team games, loading up in the second team for Sussex. And then the idea for him is to play for Sussex against Durham during the first Test. So he’ll play for Sussex if all things go well, and then if all things go well fingers crossed he should be available for the second Test.

To Play for Sussex First

“Like anything with all these bowlers, he’s got to keep ticking things off everyday with no setbacks but if all goes well and he gets through that Durham game then he’s available potentially for selection for that second Test.” England has been going through a slew of injuries, where their pacers have been giving them a hard time.
