“Great player. Will be a new captain because Sharma has retired. Kohli, who is one of the biggest Test batsmen ever. There are big shoes to fill, but he has got a large amount of talent in his squad. You only have to watch IPL. He is bringing players in Test cricket from IPL.
Kohli’s decision came soon after Rohit Sharma made a surprising announcement to call his career in the longest format.
Indian cricket, Kohli and Rohit’s stallwarts retired exactly a month before India’s five-observer tour of England, which would mark the onset of a new World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
“This is a very big year with ash coming, but it is important to gain some speed. If I am getting honest, I am looking at my career, it happened too much, where 18 months out of an ash, management and even players started looking towards that side and in fact forget that India is also a difficult challenge at home. They are a strong side.”
