Jaiswal gives the captain the thumb

Yashasvi Jaiswal said that Captain Shubman Gill was very clear in his perspective and there was no confusion in India’s strategy.

India cricket team opener Yashasvi Jaiswal heaped praise on captain Shubman Gill after the latter slammed yet another century. The Punjab batter stayed unbeaten on 114 runs at the end of play on Day 1 as India finished at 310/5 at stumps. Prior to the game and post the loss at Leeds, a lot of criticism had been directed against Gill over his strategies and tactics.

Jaiswal lavishes praise on “clear captain” Gill

Speaking to reporters in a press conference after Day 1, Jaiswal said that Gill was very clear about his approach from Day 1 and that there was no confusion whatsoever. His remarks came in response to Gill’s measured knock amid chatter over his captaincy. The England series is his first assignment as the new Test captain after he took over the reins from Rohit Sharma.

He is amazing and incredible as captain. He is very clear and we are confident with our approach. There is no confusion,” Jaiswal said.

Jaiswal said that all the batters were enjoying their stay in the middle. He revealed that the idea was to get the player who was set to take the game deeper. He added that all of them had a similar mindset.

Jaiswal missed out on his century as he was dismissed for 87 runs. The southpaw took his time and showed no signs of urgency during his stay in the middle. The southpaw revealed that he had been trying to play out spells and sessions but scored when the opportunity came.

The wicket was a bit damp [in the morning] And I was trying to play mantras and sessions. But when the opportunity came, I scoredJaiswal said.
