Patrick Roy will remain as the head coach of the New York Islands, the new general manager and executive vice -president Matthew Darche said at his introductory press conference on Thursday.
The 59-year-old Roy is the owner of a record of 55–47–17 since the 59-year-old Roy, on January 20, 2024 as the Islanders coach. The Hall of Famer posted a 35–35–12 points last season, but failed to guide the club in the playoffs.
Darche said that assistant coach John McLeon and Tommy would not return to the albelin bench.
However, Darche was not done there.
Asked whether he was interested in recreational proposals for the top overall pick of 2025 NHL drafts, with darche reactions.
He said, “Somebody will really have to knock my socks to trades that pick.”
New York gave the top overall pick of the upcoming 2025 NHL draft earlier this month to win the lottery at 3.5 percent.
Darche, 48, has served as the director of hockey operations for Tampa Bay Lighting in the last six sessions. Lightning qualified for the playoffs in each year of the stretch, in which in 2020 and 2021, capturing the Stanley Cup titles continuously and in the final in 2022.
Tabbed General Manager and Executive Vice President, Darche will replace Lu Lamorialo, who left the Islanders after seven sessions last month.
