“Is it my way”: in Virat Kohli’s Test Retirement Post, a hidden message

India’s amulet batsman Virat Kohli dropped a bomb on the entire cricketing fraternity as he announced the decision to retire from his beloved test format with immediate effect. Kohli’s intentions to leave the Lal-Genth format were round since negotiations as India’s captain Rohit Sharma announced his exit. However, it was also told that the Control Board (BCCI) for cricket in India was doing that Virat could change his mind on this subject. But Kohli decided to live with a big call, even though he admitted that it was a difficult decision.

In his post on Instagram, Virat also dropped a hidden signal about the idea process behind the decision. He chose my path from Frank Sinatra as part of his social media post. If the songs of the song are carefully analyzed, Kohli’s mentality can be seen behind the decision.

My way, by Frank Sinatra song:

And now, the end is nearAnd so i face the last screenMy friend, I would call it clearI will tell my case, of which I am sureI have lived a life that is fullI traveled to each highwayMore, more than thisI did it my way

Regret, I was somethingBut then, very little to mentionI did what I had to doAnd saw it without discountI planned each chartered courseStep with each careful stepMore, more than thisI did it my way

Yes, many times, I’m sure you knewWhen i can close a little bit than chewingBut through all this, when there was doubtI ate it and spit itI faced it, and I stood longAnd was it my way

I loved, I laughed and criedI am filled with me, my stake to loseAnd now, like tears decreaseI all find it very entertainingTo think that I did all thatAnd can i say not in a shy wayOh, no, oh, no, not meI did it my way

What is a man, what he got?If not myself, he has made zeroTo say things that he really feelsAnd those who kneel, no wordsRecord shows that I hitAnd was it my way

Yes, this was my way

While what happened behind the curtain, only Kohli and others came to know about the construction of the verdict. However, India’s coaching staff, selection committee and BCCI Top Brass ‘Roadmap’ had certainly played a role.
