“Is it my way”: in Virat Kohli’s Test Retirement Post, a hidden message

India’s amulet batsman Virat Kohli dropped a bomb on the entire cricketing fraternity as he announced the decision to retire from his beloved test format with immediate effect. Kohli’s intentions to leave the Lal-Genth format were round since negotiations as India’s captain Rohit Sharma announced his exit. However, it was also told that the Control Board (BCCI) for cricket in India was doing that Virat could change his mind on this subject. But Kohli decided to live with a big call, even though he admitted that it was a difficult decision.
In his post on Instagram, Virat also dropped a hidden signal about the idea process behind the decision. He chose my path from Frank Sinatra as part of his social media post. If the songs of the song are carefully analyzed, Kohli’s mentality can be seen behind the decision.
My way, by Frank Sinatra song:
And now, the end is near
And so i face the last screen My friend, I would call it clear I will tell my case, of which I am sure I have lived a life that is full I traveled to each highway More, more than this I did it my wayRegret, I was something
But then, very little to mention I did what I had to do And saw it without discount I planned each chartered course Step with each careful step More, more than this I did it my wayYes, many times, I’m sure you knew
When i can close a little bit than chewing But through all this, when there was doubt I ate it and spit it I faced it, and I stood long And was it my wayI loved, I laughed and cried
I am filled with me, my stake to lose And now, like tears decrease I all find it very entertaining To think that I did all that And can i say not in a shy way Oh, no, oh, no, not me I did it my wayWhat is a man, what he got?
If not myself, he has made zero To say things that he really feels And those who kneel, no words Record shows that I hit And was it my wayYes, this was my way
While what happened behind the curtain, only Kohli and others came to know about the construction of the verdict. However, India’s coaching staff, selection committee and BCCI Top Brass ‘Roadmap’ had certainly played a role.
