Ireland’s Ben Heli won Tour de France’s Stage 6

Ben Heli of Ireland on Thursday extended the Tour Day France’s stage 6 through Normandy hills.

Heli completed the 201.5-cilometer trek for Veer Normandi from Bayx for two minutes and 44 seconds ahead with the US runner-up Quin Simmons.

Australia’s Michael Storrer finished third.

It was the first stage win for an Irish cyclist after Sam Bennett’s victory over Champs-Lis in 2020.

The Netherlands Matthew Van Der Poul retrieved the Yellow Jersey of the overall race leader, with three -time champions Tedes Pogkar of Slovenia in second and Remco Ansel of Belgium in the third.

In the overall standing, Heli improved at the eighth place and Matio Jorgenson remains a prominent American in the sixth place.

Stage 7 is a hill on Friday, 197 km ride from Saint-Mlo to Mur-De-Breathne Guerladon. International Cycling’s premiere 21-stage race will end in Paris on 27 July.
