Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer resumed the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season after a week’s break due to military conflict between India and Pakistan. Many foreign stars decided to return to India for the remaining IPL campaign, forcing the franchise to sign a replacement, citing their own ‘personal reasons’. Punjab Kings were taking them to Delhi capitals in Dharamsala when IPL season 18 had to stop. The match could not be over as the authorities had to leave the middle of the competition.

Before the match began against the Royals, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer was asked about the situation that his team was forced by some foreign stars. Iyer showed complete maturity, as he said that he understood the fears of some players.

“The wicket looks great,” Shreyas Iyer said after winning the toss and opted to bat first. “To be honest, we were remembering being out of here and of course we all came back and are in high souls to get opportunities. The mentality has been strong, which is trying to use the best of all the opportunities we provided. You have to respect the wishes of the players who have not chosen to resume IPL 2025.

On the other hand, Iyer’s counterpart Sanju Samson said that he wanted to land first, he won the toss.

“How did the pitch behave in the final game against RCB, then wanted to bowl first. Let’s see how it plays today. I am fine, hundred percent fit. I would like to respect where he (Suryavanshi) is batting. He has played well for us. I will take the order down, I come for Nitish Rana.
