IPL 2025 playoff scenarios explained: RCB, Gujarat Titans Eye Top Spot; Hard road for Mumbai Indians

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 resumes at the end of this week with a place for tombs at all four playoffs. As the IPL 2025 was intensified, BCCI was forced to suspend the tournament due to the tension with Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The tournament resumes again with two teams – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Saturday, 17 May – currently played 11 matches in each on 16 points.
Except for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), all 10 teams are in dispute to reach the playoffs.
GT and RCB are ranked first and second, while Punjab Kings and Mumbai are ranked third and fourth respectively.
Each needs to win a game to qualify for both GT and RCB for playoffs, and all three for a guaranteed top to finish.
Similarly, PBK can also seal its location with a win. They also have a chance to finish in the top two, but it will depend on other results.
Meanwhile, MIs were on six games winning runs and lucky to end in the top two. However, his disadvantage to GT before the tournament suspension has changed the scenario.
They need to win their remaining matches – against DC and PBK – the most important thing is and hope that the results will go on their way.
DC, who finished fifth, has to face the same dilemma-win their matches and hope that other people will lose them. He currently has 13 points from 11 matches.
KKR, 6th, is the least chance to make in the playoffs. Currently, they are at 11 points out of 12 matches. They have maximum they can achieve 15 points.
LSG, 7th, is also an external chance of merit, but luck is not in its own hands. With the remaining three games, the maximum they can get is 16 digits.
