The reign champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) crashed from the playoff race in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, as their game against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was washed away due to rain. After the resumption of IPL 2025, not a single ball was bowled in the first game, because heavy and continuous rain M. Chinnaswamy Stadium was placed under the cover on Saturday evening. As a result, both RCB and KKR receive a point. This means that KKR can reach a maximum of 14 points, which will not be enough to secure them the playoff spots.
The fourth place faced each other during the season with the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the fifth-f
Royal Challengers Bangalore, meanwhile, close to a playoff spot. NO results take RCB to 17 points and provisionally at the top of the IPL 2025 table. However, a mathematical miracle can still end them.
If RCB lost the remaining two matches, DC won two matches, PBK won one and MI wins, it will release three teams on 17 points, and merit will come in net-nine.
KKR has terminated a disappointing season. After roaming to win a major title in 2024, men in Purple lost three important cogs at the mega auction, as Captain Shres Iyer, Pacer Mitchell Starc and opener Phil Salt. KKR suffers from incompatibility throughout the season. He lost five of his first eight matches under the new captain Ajinkya Rahane.
An abandoned domestic match against Punjab Kings gave a major blow to KKR in the season, and now it is another abandoned match that has knocked him out.
Meanwhile, the Titans and Punjab Kings of Gujarat are also a win from gaining qualifications for the playoffs, while Mumbai Indians definitely need two wins to ensure progress.
