Injury-prone Jasprit Bumrah has played only 64% of India’s tests since his debut.

Jasprit Bumrah is widely considered as the best bowler in the world, and has contributed primarily to testing success in countries in India.
Ever since he made his Test debut in 2018, everyone knew, Jasprit Bumrah was given to make a great career. A little we knew that he would soon be the best bowler in the world. At the age of 31, with only 46 tests under his belt, he has 210 wickets, on an average, a strike-vet of 42, including 14 pictures.

In 2024 alone, he took 71 wickets in 13 tests, on an average of 14 on an average. No wonder, it is special, not only for India, but for the world. This rarity has a lot with its hard work, and to do a little with your bowling action.
But injuries have stopped his career
And this very bowling action makes him very susceptible to injuries. I mean who would have imagined, that Jaspreet Bumrah played his first Test in India, only in 2021. And at home, till date, 12 matches have been managed, the last 10 came in 2024 – vs England, Bangladesh and New Zealand.
Now, it only becomes meaningful, to track how many injuries he has faced in his career, and how many matches in his career. What could be his first visit to England in 2018, he faced a thumb fracture, and was dropped from the entire series. Then in September 2019, a lower-back stress fracture saw him ‘Miss Test Series against South Africa and Bangladesh.

2021 saw her suffering from stress in the stomach, which led to a decisive test against Australia in Brisbane. Another back injury saw him remembering the Australia Test series at home in 2023. In fact, in the post, he could not even participate in the WTC final against Australia.
Overall, Bumrah has remembered 26 tests in his career so far, causing injuries and comfort. This is 36% of the total matches, India has played in that period – 72 in all. The matches they have played, India have won 20, and lost 22. While they are not around, India won 18, and 5 have lost.
