India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel

Since Siraj made his Test debut, only four fast bowlers distributed more overs from him: 949.5. Jasprit Bumrah is not one of these four.
Mohammad Sirraj has already given 65.3 overs in the India vs England Test series. Ravindra Jadeja has also not bowled more over her. He is the definition of a ‘Works’ since debuting his test for India on 26 December 2020. Still, hardly, if ever, what he gets a credit.
Yes, the job of a bowler is to get wickets. Siraj has also failed to succeed even in some speed-friendly circumstances in the past. But unlike Jasprit Bumrah, who often relax and rotate, Siraj does not get luxury to catch his breath. As the second pace of India, his performance was not very good. But no one can question his effort.
Morkel says that Siraj is entitled to more credit
India’s assistant/bowling coach Morne Morkel feels that people are not appreciating Siraj, who works tirelessly. Yes, he is also going for magic balls. Sometimes feelings get better than that. But at the end of the day, Siraj is the one who bowls the most with any Indian fast bowler.
“Siraj is a person for whom I have a lot of respect for. Morkel told reporters after day four in Birmingham.
“I think sometimes his guilty part is trying hard for us. It is about managing that kind of aggression and managing that intensity because he really bowls with his heart on his sleeve. I think sometimes those types of things can give you inconsistency.”
After a dried magic in the headingley test, Siraj stood in the absence of Bumrah in Edgbaston. Additional responsibility brought him the best. But Morkel comes to know that when Siraj was not getting wickets, the effort was always there, and the Indian dressing room always gave importance to him.
“In a match that he is now the leader of the attack, he gets wickets, but for me, in terms of effort and energy and with a body around the throat, he is always done and he will put his hand up, and he wants to bowl on him. I don’t think we sometimes give him enough credit for him,” He said.
