Subscribe now!Since 2021, Archer, the age of 30, has been away from first class cricket due to various injuries. He was not available for the first test in Headingley while recovering from the fracture of the thumb made during the recent Indian Premier League.Wright said, “In fact, Joff’s trucking, actually. Plans for her, she is playing the game of some other team.”“The plan is to play some other team games for him, which is loading in another team for Sussex. And then the idea for him is to play for Sussex against Durham during the first Test.“So, he will play for Sussex if all things go well, and then if all things cross the fingers well, they should be available for another test,” Wright said, who had previously played with Archer in Sussex.“Nothing with all these bowlers, he is found to keep everyday things ticking everyday without any failure, but if everything goes well and he meets that Durham game, he is potentially available for selection for that second test.”The thumb injury resulted in the absence of Archer from England’s ODI series against the West Indies between 29 May and 3 June.
The Test series schedule against India includes: first Test in Headingley (from 20 June), second Edgbaston (from 2 July), third in Lord’s (from 10 July), fourth in Old Trafford (from 23 July), and fifth in Oval (from 31 July).England’s speed attack currently leads to depth and experience without Archer and Mark Wood.The wood has been sidelined since March due to a knee injury with a period of recovery of four months.
Wright indicated that the wood could potentially return to the final tests of the India series.“I think Woody has now started bowling lightly, to be honest. He is away from a few pace, but it’s a great sign,” Right said.“So, he is on the road for recovery. I think he is more long -term, if we can bring him back, he can have an option for the fourth or fifth test. But then, each day it is ticking each box each day and is sure that he is fine,” the former England batsman said.
