India to bring great ‘major decision making’ IPL 2025 playoffs to Punjab: Report: Report

After the news of the transfer of places of the Indian Premier League (IPL) playoffs from Hyderabad and Kolkata to New Chandigarh and Ahmedabad, the details have come to light that former India spinner Harbhajan Singh played a big role in the shifting of fixtures in Punjab. According to sources close to Vikas, Harbhajan Singh took pain to explain the top brass of Cricket’s Control Board (BCCI) for cricket in India for the suitability of the stadium to host matches in the current season.
“Harbhajan worked hard for this. He assured the prominent decision making that New Chandigarh was ready, in terms of both facilities and enthusiasm of the audience. He was not just advocating; he was deeply involved in inspection trips, pitch discussions and logical plan,” confirmed a source to IANS.
Punjab Cricket Association Chief Cricket Advisor Harbhajan has actively promoted cricket after retirement in the region and has always expressed concern about the lack of international and IPL-level matches in Punjab, which is after the decline as a regular host of Mohali.
With the successful completion of the stadium in Mulanpur, he saw the opportunity to bring Elite-Level Cricket back to Heartland.
BCCI on Tuesday announced a schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 playoffs. After 70 action-packed league-stage matches, the spotlight will be transferred to the new PCA stadium in New Chandigarh as it gears to host the much-awaited qualifier 1-The characteristic of the top-two ranked sides on May 29, followed by an Angrowning Eliminator Clash on 30 May.
Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, the world’s largest cricket stadium will host an electrification qualifier 2 and the Grand Final. Qualifier 2, Qualifier 1 will be played between 1 and the winner of the eliminator, will be on 1 June. The high anticipated summit clash is scheduled to be played on 3 June.
The new places for the playoffs were decided by the IPL Governing Council, taking into account the weather conditions and other parameters.
