India set unwanted records as Shubman Gill & Company after Ben Stokes Brilliance

India slipped from 430/3 to 471 on 2 of the headingley test.
India’s batting brilliance at Headingley came to a disappointing end as the Men in Blue slipped to a shambolic collapse on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 1st Test. The visitors were on top with a score in excess of 500 on the cards, but Ben Stokes and Josh Tongue forced through a breakthroughs. India were 430/3 before Lunch, but slipped to 471 all out, losing 7 wickets for 41 runs.

India lost 7 wickets for 41 runs on Day 2 of the IND vs ENG 1st Test. The visitors were strolling at 430/3 with centuries from Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant. However, Ben Stokes and Co forced through a collapse to restore parity. Shubman was dismissed for 147, triggering a slide that ended with India folding in the second session.
India folded for 471, the lowest score for an innings with three centuries. The previous record was 475 with South Africa at Centurion back in 2016. India’s 430 is the highest score for a team with three wickets down to be bowled out for a score under 500.

Ben Stokes led England’s charge from the front. Leading an inexperience attack, he was the pick of the pacers. Stokes dismissed Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan on Day 1. He followed it up with the wickets of Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur. The England captain was assisted well by Josh Tongue. The youngster cleaned up India’s tail to end with a four-wicket haul himself.
