India is under control despite Brook-Smith show after Six-Fer-six-Fer.

IND vs ENG Highlights: Mohammad Sirj’s 6-Fer helped India take 180 runs with Harry Brooke and Jamie Smith despite centuries

India extended their control over the IND vs ENG 2nd Test after a late burst on Day 3. Jamie Smith and Harry Brook put on a stunning 303-run partnership, but Mohammed Siraj picked 6 to keep India much ahead. While Jaiswal was dismissed early, India motored to 52/1 at Stumps in another productive day for the visitors.

England lost Joe Root and Ben Stokes to Mohammed Siraj in the second over of the day to Mohammed Siraj. However, what followed was complete England domination with Harry Brook and Jamie Smith both slamming tons. The duo put on 303 for the sixth wicket, running India ragged in the field. A second new ball helped India pull things back, forcing a lower order collapse to bowl England out for 407.

Mohammad Siraj steps into the absence of Jaspreet Bumrah

Mohammed Siraj was by far India’s best bowler on a flat track in Edgbaston. Leading the pack in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, Siraj bowled his finest spells against an attacking English line up. Having dismissed Zak Crawley yesterday, he got Joe Root and Ben Stokes off successive deliveries in just his first over of the day. Even as the rest of the Indian attack went for runs, he bowled tight, creating pressure. That paid of with the second new ball as he cleaned up the tail to finish with 6/70. It is Siraj’s best figures in SENA, and there was no better time to get it.

Jamie Smith & Harry Brook – England’s future rises in the present

Harry Brook is 26 years old. Jamie Smith is 24. The duo, arguably lynchpins in the future, put on a show in helpful conditions at Edgbaston. With England reeling at 84/5, the hosts were staring at a potential follow on. However, the duo blasted through Bazball style to plunder 173 in just 27 overs in the first session. Both scored tons in a heroic 303-run stand for the 6th wicket. It took a jaffa from Akash Deep to end the partnership, which gave England some semblance of a fight in the 2nd Test.
