Ind vs Eng: ‘disappointed’ – East India Cricketer Question Pataudi Name to leave the step of ECB | Cricket news

Former India cricketer Fokh Engineer has slammed England Cricket Board (ECB) to change the name of India-England Test Series Trophy. The trophy, previously named the Pataudi Trophy, was renamed the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at the beginning of the five-match Test series.“Well, Tiger Pataudi was a great friend of mine. We played a lot of Test cricket together. Great Heritage, Great Family. I was the most happy when the trophy was named after him in 2007,” the engineer told PTI.“On one hand, I was very disappointed that Pataudi’s name was removed. I would have liked Tiger’s name to go, but instead, the powers fixed on Anderson and Sachin, which are the legends of the game.“This (introduction to the Pataudi medal) was clearly one later. They should have announced it in the beginning – which had more credibility – but at least they have done something. General knowledge has become strong, and I hope Pataudi’s name is always.
“… Tendulkar and Anderson cannot argue against the achievements. The story has two sides. He has named a medal after a medal, which is a very thoughtful thing.“It should be another choice that I make a lot of Pataudi supporters happy, one of whom I am, but you can not blame him for naming the trophy after Sachin and Anderson,” the engineer said.“The entire issue is a matter of debate, but he has named. I hope that he invites Sharmila Tagore (wife of Mansoor) and his son Saif Ali Khan to give medals. The final series, he did not do so. The fingers were pointed out in the ECB. Hopefully, hopefully, he gives him credit.”India behind a five-match series 0–1 after losing to a commanding position in Headingley.
