However, former Jadeja team partner and former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin came to his rescue.The spinner defended Jadeja, saying that it was technically difficult for the player for attractive shots, an aggressive innings. “For experts who say that he could show more intentions, I ask, how many times a batsman has gone down the ground and has gone to the dressing room? Ashwin continued his case for Jadeja, saying that he could play only six or boundary, if he made a clean contact with the ball. His other two options were either a lap sweep or reverse sweep against speed. “I felt that he had played the correct number. Ben Stokes captaincy was very good. He said ’70 runs. If you want to score one run per over and want to score it, please do.”

Appreciating the England skipper strategy for not bringing his fielders in, Ashwin also credited Indian talender for being committed to a slow and cautious approach. While the game may have gone on the way to England, Ashwin insisted that India is much better in terms of skills than hosts. However, he mentioned that it is ‘pressure’ to hold him back.
