Ian Hap’s single won a series of Chicago cub 3–2 in a game-winning run at the bottom of the 10th innings and won a series against Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday.
Automatic runners Vidal Bruzon and Kyle Tucker made a double theft with John Burty in the plate, and after the Burthee went out, Hap knocked out a single in the correct area from Reliever David Bedner (1-5) to score Bruzon.
Reliever Chris Flexon (4–0) was perfect at the top of the 10th to win. Starting Pitcher Colin Ri allowed two runs and a walk on four hits, while four out of four innings for the cub scored four out of four, winning three of the four-game set.
Pirates lost the game for the first time since 1-3 June.
Pittsburgh opened scoring in the first innings. Oneil Cruz led a single to right, Nick went to another place from Gonzalase on a base hit and when the Spencer Horvitz was connected to an-out single.
Gonzhalase finished third on Horvitz’s hit and came around to make it 2–0 on the groundout of Alexander Carnerio.
Chicago responded to the lower half of the frame. Happy walked a leadoff, stole the other and Peat moved up to third place on the groundout of Crow-Armestrong. They crossed the plate when Siya Suzuki chased with another groundout.
After Suzuki’s RBI Groundout, Michael Bush knocked a fly ball under a fly field line for a ground rule double and Dansbi Swanson left him with a single to right field to tie him 2–2.
After facing six batsmen in the first, Ri and Pittsburgh Mich Keller settled and were skilled through the next five innings. Bush hit a two-out single in the third, a joint 27 batsmen to hit only on both sides until the Horwitz did not sing for the center with two outs in the sixth place.
Keller gave two runs on three hits and two walks and beat three in six innings. Horvitz had two of Pittsburgh’s four hits.
Busch and Swansan each collected a pair of hits as the cubs were successful in only six.
