On Saturday, Temba Bavuma directed South Africa for a historic victory at the World Test Championship – his first ICC title in 27 years. Bavuma led a five -wicket win over Australia in a thrilling final at Lord’s. The match saw a change of dramatic speed, but it was South Africa which eventually became stronger, thanks to a brilliant 136 from Aiden Markram. While Markram stole the limelight with his match winning knock, Bavuma had a true backbone of Chase of 66 runs off 134 balls. A day earlier, battling a hamstring injury, Bavuma dug deep, sharing a significant 147-rice partnership with Markram for the third wicket-a stand that changed the way to Tide South Africa. His 66 was a captain’s knock in every sense: hard, composed and full of character. Langa, Bavuma denied the yield between wickets in visual pain. His earlier contribution – a valuable 36 – in the first innings helped preserve South Africa after exiting Australia’s 212.This is likely to be the glory of WTC Vijay Bawuma’s career – a fitting milestone for the child from Langa in the western cape, which has broken the obstacles and rejected expectations at every step. Under his leadership, South Africa has shed a painful “Choker” tag to raise the biggest award in Test cricket.“Langa is Gulzar, South Africa is smiling, and the world has seen the excellence of our own-Attoot, ice-cool and history captain Temba Bavuma!” Langa Ward 51 Councilor Lawaji Fakde said in a statement.“As a ward councilor of Langa, I am filled with pride and spirit as we celebrate Protiaz’s sensational victory over Australia in the World Test Championship final. But for us in ward 51, this victory is different because it is a man at the center of all, who lifts that trophy high, a child in the Langa Township.“Temba Bavuma is more than a cricketing genius. He is an incarnation of discipline, courage and stability. From the streets of Rubusana to the grand stages of international sports, he has carried forward the hopes of this community with humility and distinction. His success is not just their own – it is our own as a people.“He represents every child playing cricket on a narrow road without any shoes. He represents every parent who sacrifices so that his children can chase dreams. He represents the spirit of Langa: bold, talented and invincible.”Ward 51 councilor also announced a plan to convince the local hero after returning.

“Now, let me be clear: as my councilor, I take my duties very seriously … but I also take the ceremonies very seriously!“So, we will be rolling the red carpet for Temba Bavuma when we return home. The Langa’s community will host an unforgettable homecoming festival, because when we conquer one of our own world, we should honor him like a champion.“For Proteus: Thank you for proud of us.“Temba Bavuma: Thank you for reminding us that Langa does not just produce legends – we raise the captain.”
