As cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar celebrated his 76th birthday on Thursday, July 10, the former captain of India made headlines away from the field – this time to take his Wimbledon 2025. In a vibrant conversation with former Indian tennis star and commentator Vijay Amritaj, Gavaskar shared his Wimbledon final prediction and weighed over the remaining contenders. While he praised Spain’s Carlos Alakraj for playing “Best Tennis” among the present region, he also defeated Novak Djokovic to defeat the birthright synerg in Semi and reach the finals. Citing the loss of Djokoviz in SW19 in the last year’s final, Gavaskar hoped that Serbian would pull the “one final victory to 25”, referring to the discovery of Djokovic for the 25th Grand Slam title. Comparing his hobby for Wimbledon with the spiritual home of cricket, Gavaskar commented, “Every time I am in England around this time, I go to Wimbledon. But I rarely go to God, if it is not final.
