How to beat “inexperienced” pbks myte mi in qualifier 2?

Former RCB pacer Varun Aaron said that it would be better if PBK bat for the first time against MI in his qualifier 2 tie.

Former Indian cricketer Varun Aaron has suggested that Punjab Kings bat first in their Qualifier 2 clash against Mumbai Indians. PBKS have a tall task at hand in delaing with a formidable MI after suffering a 8-wicket thrashing at the hands of RCB. Ahead of the tie, Aaron has suggested that it would be better if PBKS bat first and set the tone for the match.

Aaron wants PBKS to bat first vs MI

Speaking to ESPNCricinfo, Aaron pointed out that PBKS had an inexperienced batting unit despite being a good one. He said that rather than allowing the pressure to get to the team, it would be better if the batters set a target and then allow the bowlers to do their job.

“I think Punjab would love to set the tone. Especially in a knockout game like this. It’s always better to set the target. Again, that’s also because they’ve got a very inexperienced batting unit. Yes, they have a good batting unit, but inexperienced,” Aaron said.

PBKS witnessed a batting collapse in their previous game against RCB. Batters were sent packing after attempting rash shot. Post the tie, captain Shreyas Iyer admitted that the side needed a reset but also claimed that they had lost the battle and not the war.

Aaron noted that the Ahmedabad surface would suit PBKS more than MI as the team relied heavily on the openers. Tom Moody pointed out that it was PBKS’ uncapped players who had performed really well in this season and backed them to fire in the clash against MI.

They just need to refocus on what’s made them good this year. What is it that has made them really a threat throughout the year? And obviously, it’s a lot of their uncapped players have punched well above their weight,” Moody said.
