“How much have you done abroad?” Ravi Shastri Furious Captain Rumors with Shubman Gill’s critics

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri has interacted on the poor foreign records of Shubman Gill in the tests, amidst the report that he is the Captain of Nest India. The coach of the former Indian cricket team believes that Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant give shapes as strong candidates for the captaincy of the Test team in the near future, as the main reasons, citing the ability of their youth and long career. “You guys will talk that he has not scored runs abroad. You know, this topic always comes, runs are not made abroad. Sometimes I tell them, go and see your record, how much work you have done abroad?” Shastri said on the ICC review show.

“Abroad, abroad, let him play, let him score a run abroad, then he will score a class. He is a class player for the country a decade ahead of him. And I am sure he will crack into one of the one tourism, he will be made for all the runs that he has not received before.”

Shastri said that he would not put more leadership pressure on the Spearhead Jasprit Bumrah, which rapidly alliance, citing his importance in the Indian bowling department. India will be led by a new captain on a five -match tour of England, after starting at Headingley on 20 June, Rohit Sharma announced retirement from tests earlier this month.

“You prepare someone and I would say that Shubman feels very good. Give him an opportunity. He is 25, 26 years old, even give him time. Also Rishabh is. I think it is clear that both of them are clear that I am watching due to their age and they have a decade ahead. So, let them learn,” Shastri said.

Both pants and gill are captaining their respective franchises – Lucknow Super Veterans and Gujarat Titans – in IPL 2025. Pant captained India at home against South Africa in the 2022 T20I series, which ended in a 2–2 draw. Gill was the top-order ODE batsman, captain, when the side visited Zimbabwe last year, for a five-match series in the smallest format and won 4–1.

Shastri said, “He has got experience as a captain, now, he is captaining his franchise and it makes a difference. I have seen about Shubman, he is very interesting. Rachna, calm, he has all the qualities,” Shastri said.

Bumrah captained India in three tests, and when he won the Perth Test in the last year’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in Australia, he was on the hull. But he faced a back injury during the final test of the Australia Tour at Sydney Cricket Ground and did not bowl at all in the second innings.

Bumrah also disappeared from the 2025 winning Champions Trophy campaign due to that back injury. Although he is back in IPL 2025, Bumrah’s fitness issues mean that he is not yet a certainty to play all five trials on England tour.

“Look for me, Jasprit would be a clear option after Australia. But I don’t want Jasprit to be made captain and then you lose him as a bowler. I think he (Bumrah) will have to take a game to his body at one time. He is coming back after a serious injury.”

Shastri said, “He must have played IPL cricket, which is four overs cricket. Now 10 overs, 15 overs bowling test will be held.
