A few days after the removal of India’s assistant coach, Abhishek Nair returned to the Kolkata Knight Riders fold on Saturday, but his exact role and status have not been specified by the IPL side. Nayar was part of KKR established as an assistant coach and patron, when he removed his third IPL title last year after a decade of his previous victory in 2014. He played an important role in the development of the player at the KKR Academy. “Welcome Ghar, Abhishek Nair,” KKR posted on X, confirming his re -entry into the team setup.
In an earlier post, KKR revealed that he had returned as an assistant coach, but soon removed it from X.
The BCCI sacked Assistant Staff members Nair, Fielding Coach T Dilip and conditioning coach Soham Desai after reviewing the performance of India’s disappointing run in Test cricket.
Nair joined the national team in July 2024.
