Rajasthan Royals (RR) captain Sanju Samson will recall his team’s upcoming IPL 2025 matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) due to a side strain. The franchise said that as part of recovery, Samson would not visit Bengaluru and is coming back to Jaipur with selected RR medical staff. The wicketkeeper-owner selected the injury while playing against the Delhi Capital (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and was forced to hurt him after scoring 31 runs off 19 balls, as RR eventually lost the match in an exciting super over.
The franchise said in its statement on Monday, “The team management is closely monitoring its progress and will take a game-by-game approach about its return to action.” This also means that Ryan Parag, who has led RR in four matches so far in Samson’s absence, will captain the side against RCB, led by Silver Patidar at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Thursday.
Not being available for RR against RCB means that left -handed batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who became the youngest player in the tournament, who will batting with Jaswal to feature Lucknow Super Veterans (LSG) at Sarai Mansingh Stadium during his two -run loss.
Samson is the RR’s second largest run-goldter of IPL 2025, with 224 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.33. He is the only batsman of Yashasvi Jaiswal (307 runs in eight innings), who has scored more than 200 runs in the ongoing season.
RR, inaugurated in 2008 IPL winners, ranks eighth on the IPL 2025 points table with four points, and are only based on the Net Run Rate (NRR) from Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
