Jose Butler has allegedly informed GT that when it is restarted, it will not be part of IPL 2025
In what could be a big blow to Gujarat Titans, Jos Buttler has informed the franchise that he won’t be a part of remainder of IPL 2025. The England batter has been named a part of the national team for the T20I and ODI series against West Indies. GT are currently at the top of the IPL 2025 standings and need just one more win to seal their spot in the playoffs.
Buttler to miss rest of IPL 2025
As per News Wire, Buttler has communicated his unavailability to GT. The team is set to name Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis as his replacement. Incidentally, the Sri Lankan cricketer was a part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 10) before it was suspended.
Buttler is GT’s third highest run-scorer in IPL 2025, with 500 runs to his name from 11 matches. He is only behind GT opener Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill. Recently, GT created history by becoming the first team in IPL to have three batters who have scored 500+ runs in a season.
In the absence of Buttler, GT will have a tough time in finding an apt replacement as number 3 batter. IPL 2025 will resume on May 17, with the final scheduled to be played on June 3.
