
A ownership group led by the Hall of Fame Mario Lamice has expressed that it is “very interested” in buying its former team, Pittsburg Penguin, as reported by athletic on Monday.
Lamice and his ownership group, which included former co-owner Ron Berkeley and former executive David Morhouse, allegedly informed NHL Commissioner Gary Betman to purchase the team from the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) with his intentions, which the organization acquired the team from its group in 2021.
The FSG has announced the discovery of additional minority investors in view of selling only 91.4 percent of the tickets available in 2024-25, the lowest amount in two decades, but has not expressed the desire to sell to the club in public.
Penguin was priced at $ 1.47 billion in 2024, per Sportico.

Since acquiring the team, the FSG has presided over only one playoff attendance, including the direct postson Mrs. Penguin’s recent record is contrary to the team winning three league championships from 2009-17.
