
Grigor Dimitrov shared an update on pectoral muscle injury on Friday, which forced him to withdraw from Wimbledon this week, with a major edge against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner.
The 19th seed Bulgarians retired against the top seeded Italian with an increase of 6-3, 7-5, 2-2 from Monday’s 16 match.
“Sometimes the heart wants to keep moving … but there is a separate plan for us in the universe,” Dimitrov posted a picture of himself in a hospital bed on Instagram on Friday. “I was one of the most painful moments of my career after withdrawing from this match in Wimbledon.
“Thanks to the huge wave of love – from family, friends, fans, colleagues, to the whole tennis community … Your messages have really lifted me through these difficult times. Thanks to all of you. True. True. Recovery starts now. I will see all of you soon.”
34 -year -old Dimitrov has won nine singles titles on ATP tour, but has never won the Grand Slam tournament. He reached the semi -finals in the quarter -finals in Wimbledon (2014), The Australian Open (2017) and the US Open (2019) and the French Open (2024).
The 2017 NITTO ATP Final Champion has been withdrawn due to injuries from the last four major companies, including the Australian Open (Grin) and May (leg) in January.
