Greenland rejected for ConcacAF membership

Concacaf unanimously rejected Greenland’s application for membership on Monday.
The governing body decided in his extraordinary Congress before this month’s Gold Cup.
Concacaf said in a news release, “In addition, based on an intensive evaluation made by the ConcacAF administration and the council, and according to the ConcacAF law, the member associations reviewed the membership application submitted by the Greenlandic Football Association and unanimously rejected it.”
This decision is a significant shock for Greenland’s efforts to play international football for the first time.
Greenland is a region of Denmark with a population near 56,500. For comparison, the Faro Islands is a Danish region, with a population below 55,000, but they are members of FIFA and UEFA, which later control European football.
Last year, Greenland applied for membership in ConcacAF, which controls North and Central America and Caribbean. Its nearest neighbor is Canada, and US President Donald Trump has expressed interest in controlling the island.
Greenland’s football team participates in non-Fifa-approved friends. According to Reuters, the island has only 18 football pitch.
